Motorola is preparing for the launch of the Razr 50 Ultra model, according to information from an Indian website that discovered that the XT2453-1 model has been certified by BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) and EEC (Eurasian Economic Commission). It is not clear yet if the XT2453-1 will be available globally or if it is a regional variant, and in Europe we will have the phone with a different callsign.

What we know about the Razr 50 Ultra

According to an image published by tech reporter Sudhanshu Ambhore, the design of the Razr 50 Ultra doesn’t differ drastically from its predecessor, maintaining the same horizontal dual camera setup (like two eyes) and the Razr logo. The large secondary screen on top of the rear panel is similar to the previous model and extends the functionality of the device without the need to open it.

On the front, the Razr 50 Ultra has the same thin bezel and selfie camera. The volume and power buttons are also located on the right edge. So far it brings the Razr 40 Ultra, but inside there seem to be some differences. That is, it would have 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, compared to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage in the 40 Ultra model, which arrived on the local market last year.

Of course, even in 2023 there were variants with 12GB RAM / 256 GB storage and 12GB RAM / 512 GB storage, but I did not see them in Romania. They may have arrived in the US under the name Razr 40+. The new foldable could be available in blue, orange and green variants.

The Motorola Razr 40 Ultra was the first flip to make the outer screen truly useful, and a smartphone that exceeds expectations in almost every department, minus the 3800mAh battery, which is only decent. At launch it cost around 6,000 lei and now it can be found in stores for around 3,500 lei, a fairly affordable price that will probably drop further after the launch of the 2024 model.

I’m looking forward to the release of the Razr 50 Ultra and can only hope for a bigger battery or a more powerful yet economical processor than the Spadragon 8 Gen 1. Anyway, let’s always view these leaks with a grain of salt until we see the official product.
