It is the second batch of aid announced this week, following the $1 billion announced Wednesday, the two amounts being part of the $61 billion assistance budget for Kiev voted on Tuesday in Congress and later signed into law by President Biden.
If the $1 billion aid revealed Wednesday will come from US military stocks, the one announced Friday will come from contracts with the defense industry or partners. Which means it will take longer to reach the battlefield, AFP noted.
