Former world leader Simona Halep returned to the world ranking of professional tennis players (WTA) published on Monday, seven months after her last appearance in the hierarchy and occupies the 1,143rd place, with the 10 points received for participating in the Miami Open.

Halep, suspended from October 2022, due to a positive anti-doping test, and returned to the circuit last month, after the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne reduced her sanction from four years to nine months, last appeared in the WTA ranking on 28 August 2023, when it was ranked 1,138.

Poland’s Iga Swiatek consolidated her position at the top of the rankings, now holding a lead of around 2,800 points over Belarus’ Arina Sabalenka, while she is now 840 points behind third-placed Coco Gauff.

The Greek Maria Sakkari managed to climb two places and is now in 7th place.

The American Danielle Collins, who won the title in Miami, managed to jump 31 places, being now in the 22nd position.

Sorana Cîrstea dropped five places compared to two weeks ago and is now in 29th place, Ana Bogdan is in 66th place, and Jaqueline Cristian dropped one place and is in 83rd place. Irina Begu managed to jump 11 places after played the final of the WTA 125 tournament in Antalya, climbing to 115.

In doubles, Monica Niculescu lost three positions and is on 42nd, while Gabriela Ruse dropped two steps, being on 83rd.
