Romania won the women’s gold medals in the “queen” event of rowing, 8+1, on Sunday, at European Championships in Szeged (Hungary).

Romania finished second in the final standings, with eight medals, four gold, two silver and two bronze, ahead of Great Britain (8-1-1), but finishing ahead of Italy (2-3-3) , of Norway (2-0-1), of Germany (2-5-1), etc.

The victory went to the Serbian Jovana Arsic (08:23.42), the silver was won by the German Alexandra Foester (08:28.16), and the Czech Alice Prokesova (08:34.97) took the third place.

On Sunday, Ioana Vrînceanu and Roxana Anghel won gold in the women’s double sculls, Andrei-Sebastian Cornea and Marian Enache prevailed in the men’s double sculls, the third gold medal being obtained in the women’s 8+1 (Magdalena Rusu, Roxana Anghel, Adriana Adam, Maria Lehaci, Mădălina Bereş, Amalia Bereş, Ioana Vrînceanu, Simona Radiş, Victoria-Ştefania Petreanu).

Florin Arteni and Florin Lehaci took silver in the men’s double sculls, and Ancuța Bodnar and Simona Radiş won the bronze in the women’s double sculls.

Romania qualified 12 crews in the medal finals out of the 13 that Szeged sent.
