Romania won the gold medals in the women’s double sculls, through Ioana Vrînceanu and Roxana Anghel, on Sunday, at the European Rowing Championships in Szeged (Hungary).

The Romanians were clocked with a time of 07 min 52 sec 05/100, followed by Greece (08:00.87) and Croatia (08:03.13).

Also on Sunday, in the men’s four-frame event, Romania (Andrei Mândrilă, Mugurel Vasile Semciuc, Ştefan Berariu, Ciprian Tudosă) ranked fourth, with a time of 06 min 24 sec 77/100, almost two seconds from the podium. Great Britain won the gold medals (06:17.63), Italy got the silver (06:20.27), and the bronze went to France (06:22.86).

Mihai Chiruţă won Final B of the men’s single sculls event (07:29.60), so he ranked seventh overall.

On Saturday, Romania won three medals, one gold, one silver and one bronze.

The gold of the tricolors was won in the double rowing, light category (Gianina van Groningen and Ionela Cozmiuc), the silver was won in the women’s four row (Mădălina Bereş, Maria Lehaci, Magdalena Rusu and Amalia Bereş), and the bronze in the men’s 8+1 ( Mihăiță Șigănescu, Ciprian Tudosă, Constantin Adam, Mugurel Vasile Semciuc, Florin Arteni, Sergiu Bejan, Ştefan Berariu, Florin Lehaci, Adrian Munteanu).

Romania qualified 12 crews in the medal finals out of the 13 that Szeged sent. On Sunday, the tricolors will start in five A finals, in men’s double sculls, women’s double sculls, men’s double sculls, women’s single sculls and women’s 8+1.
