Earthquake of Flowers, in the Vrancea area

An earthquake of low intensity occurred on Sunday morning, April 28, on the Day of Flowers, in the Vrancea seismic zone.

The announcement was made by the National Research – Development Institute for Earth Physics INCDFP.

The earthquake had a magnitude of 3.2

According to INCDFP, “on April 28, at 06:43:04 (Romanian local time), a weak earthquake with a magnitude of ml 3.2 occurred in the Vrancea Seismic Zone, at a depth of 90.0 km”.

The earthquake occurred near the following cities: 43km W of Focșani, 64km N of Buzău, 68km E of Sfântu-Gheorghe, 80km E of Brașov, 97km S of Bacău, 97km NE of Ploiesti, 98km SW of Bârlad.

The earthquake did not cause any casualties or damage.

Since the beginning of April, almost 30 earthquakes have been recorded in Romania, with magnitudes between 2.1 and 3.4 on the Richter scale.

Last year, the largest tectonic movement, with a magnitude of 5.7 on the Richter scale, took place on February 14, in Gorj County, at a depth of 6.3 kilometers.

What to do in case of an earthquake

• Buildings must be left calmly, without taking unnecessary things, and the way out must be checked carefully, to avoid exposure to dangers.
• For any eventuality, injury caused by falling plaster, bricks, etc. must be prevented. when leaving the building, using a protective helmet or, in its absence, a chair (stool) or other protective object (bag, satchel, thick books, etc.).
• If the doors are blocked at the exit, you must act without panic to unlock them. If the doors cannot be unlocked, it is recommended to break the glass, clean the frame and the debris area, using a chair, a vase, etc. and evacuation through the gap thus created.
• If, as a result of an earthquake, there are injured people, they must be freed from the places where they were trapped and they must be given first aid.
