An earthquake of low intensity occurred on Sunday morning in the Vrancea area. The announcement was made by the National Research – Development Institute for Earth Physics INCDFP.

According to the INCDFP, “on April 28, at 06:43:04 (local time of Romania), a weak earthquake with a magnitude of ml 3.2 occurred in the Vrancea Seismic Zone, at a depth of 90.0 km”.

The earthquake occurred near the following cities: 43km W of Focșani, 64km N of Buzău, 68km E of Sfântu-Gheorghe, 80km E of Brașov, 97km S of Bacău, 97km NE of Ploiesti, 98km SW of Bârlad.

The earthquake did not cause any casualties or damage.

Last year, the strongest earthquake produced in Romania was of magnitude 5.7 and occurred on February 14, in Gorj county, at a depth of 6.3 kilometers.
