Bucharest, Cluj, Suceava, Bacău, Timiș, Dolj, Iaşi, Mureș, Bihor, Dâmboviţa, Prahova and Sibiu will receive funding through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) to implement projects aimed at building or modernizing campuses: student dormitories, libraries, spaces for sports activities, spaces for recreation or for cultural-educational activities. The amounts allocated to each project vary, the largest amount allocated exceeding 65 million lei, and the smallest being almost 3.5 million lei.

The Ministry of Education made public, on Friday, the list of projects that were accepted for financing within the call PNRR/2023/c15/medu/i17 “Construction of university infrastructure for the student campuses of the future”.

Public universities were eligible to access projects. The 20 winning projects were submitted, in the order of the points obtained, by the Politehnica University of Bucharest, the “Ştefan cel Mare” University from Suceava, the “Vasile Alecsandri” University from Bacău, the “Iuliu Haţieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy, the University of West Timisoara , “King Mihai I” University of Life Sciences in Timisoara, University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca, University of Craiova, “Grigore T. Popa” University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Iasi, “Ion Ionescu” University of Life Sciences at Brad” from Iasi, “George Emil Palade” University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Sciences and Technology from Târgu Mures, University of Oradea, University of Petrol Gaze Ploiesti, Technical University of Constructions Bucharest, University of Medicine and Pharmacy Craiova, Military Unit 01512 Sibiu, “Valahia” University of Târgovişte, National University of Music Bucharest, National University of Theater and Cinematography “Ion Luca Caragiale” from Bucharest and “Babeş-Bolyai” University from Cluj.

Higher education institutions will use the funds attracted through PNRR for the realization or modernization of constructions on campuses: student dormitories, libraries, spaces for sports activities, spaces for recreation or for cultural-educational activities.

“We finance the construction of new accommodation, canteen, recreation and reading spaces on university campuses. In addition to modernized dormitories and canteens, students will also be able to benefit from modernized reading and leisure spaces, which will provide them with access to services such as: lounges/socializing spaces, sports fields/gyms, garden/green space , performance/event halls dedicated to students, reading rooms, libraries, individual/group study rooms, sports/fitness rooms and nutrition services, instructional kitchen, swimming pool, climbing wall, relaxation areas equipped with billiards, darts, ping-pong etc”, the Ministry of Education sent.

The project “Development of the infrastructure of the “Grigore T. Popa” University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Iasi by building a canteen and recreation space with increased energy efficiency” will receive the largest amount, to which the amount of 65,178,929 lei was allocated, which includes the value total eligible and total ineligible value.

The smallest amount allocated is for the project “Construction of recreation and reading spaces within the Petrol-Gaze ​​University of Ploiesti”, which will cost 3,477,165 lei, total eligible value and total ineligible value.
