Mayor Cristian Gentea announces that major urban infrastructure investments are underway in Pitesti. Each of these projects has an important role in relieving traffic.
Further, the mayor talks about which projects are involved, where the funds were obtained and the need to carry them out.
- “The Bridge over the Bascov Stream is being completely rebuilt
We are continuously working on a major infrastructure investment, an investment that we are making with funds obtained within the “Anghel Saligny” Program, financed by the MDLPA.
It is about the rehabilitation of the bridge on Depozitelor Street, over the Bascov Stream, a work that was more than necessary to increase the safety of traffic participants, including pedestrians crossing the area.
The old bridge was built in 1980 and, since its construction, it has never undergone major rehabilitation works.
Now, more than ever, they were a priority in the context in which the area in question serves a growing number of commercial companies and represents an access route used from Pitesti to Bascov, Budeasa and other neighboring towns, and the degree of deterioration of the old the bridge was growing day by day.
2,524,194 euros is the amount we obtained through “Anghel Saligny” for the financing of this work which is being carried out by one of the largest profile companies (Porr Construct) and is moving forward at a very good pace.
- The barrier on Lanariai Street was automated
The year 2022 brought us – after an infinite wait and after countless efforts by the local administration at the Ministry of Transport – the modernization of the barrier in Prundu, on Lânăriei street, one of the major sources of road blockage in the southern part of Pitesti.
Now, the barriers are operated automatically with the help of sensors located on the railway. They are lowered when the train is at a distance of 1 km from the level crossing and raised immediately after the passage of the last wagon.
An old urban infrastructure problem was thus solved!
- 8 million euro footbridge to relieve traffic in Pitesti
It was a joy to support, as an administration, the efforts of the investor Prime Kapital to build in Pitesti the largest mall in the region, infusing over 100,000,000 euros into the local economy.
The achievement did not come only from the construction of a major objective in the retail industry, generating public income and jobs, but also from a more than fruitful partnership for the Pitesti community.
This partnership materialized, on April 18, 2024, in the commissioning of a new footbridge (car and pedestrian) that connects Bulevardul Republicii with Tudor Vladimirescu. 8 million euros is the cost of this investment that Prime Kapital made and passed on to Pitesti, thus contributing considerably to an infrastructure objective aimed at reducing traffic in the area and ensuring quick access between two urban arteries big”, stated the mayor Cristian Gentea.
