SEARCHES in Cluj in a pimping case! The “Loverboy” method was used to lure the victim – VIDEO

One of the most used methods by live meat traffickers is what the authorities call “loverboy”. A new case came to light after those from DIICOT came into force against pimps, carrying out 7 home searches, in the counties of Mureș, Bistrița-Năsăud and Cluj, in a criminal case regarding the commission of human trafficking offences, in the form continued and pimping.

More precisely, on April 3, 2024, the policemen of the Cluj Organized Crime Brigade, together with the prosecutors of the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism – Cluj Territorial Service, carry out 7 house searches, in the counties of Mureș, Bistrița Năsăud and Cluj , in a criminal case regarding the commission of the crimes of human trafficking, in continuous form and pimping.

“From the research carried out, it emerged that, during 2020, a suspect would have recruited an injured person, simulating a love relationship, and, until March 2024, at different time intervals and on the basis of the same criminal resolution, taking advantage of the obvious state of vulnerability in which the victim was, would have transported and sheltered her in different locations, on the territory of Germany, forcing her to practice prostitution.

The sums of money obtained from the criminal activity would have been appropriated by him.

Also, in the period 2022 – 2024, another person would have obtained sums of money resulting from the sexual exploitation of the same injured persons, as a result of the support given in ensuring the transport and transfer of the sums of money obtained by the victim”, transmits IPJ Cluj.

The hearings will be held at the headquarters of the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism – Cluj Territorial Service.

Specialized support was provided by the Special Operations Directorate of the Romanian Police.

During the entire criminal process, the investigated persons benefit from the procedural rights and guarantees provided by the Code of Criminal Procedure, as well as the presumption of innocence.

Human traffickers from all over the country continue to use a classic method of recruiting vulnerable young women.

Called the “loverboy method” by the authorities, this involves an interaction between the trafficker and the victim before she is rounded up. The girl is determined by the pimp to fall in love with him, most of the time he poses as a man with good intentions. After he convinces the girl to start a relationship with him, the trafficker pushes the victim into the world of prostitution, there are cases where the girls who fell into the pimps’ net ended up selling their bodies to hundreds of men.
