Iulian Dumitrescu was placed under judicial control on February 1. During the period of the preventive measure, he was forbidden to exercise the position of president of the Prahova County Council. PNL Prahova recently announced that it supports Dumitrescu for a new term as head of the Prahova County Council.

Iulian Dumitrescu contested the extended judicial control by DNA prosecutors. However, the court decided to reject his request.

“In file 9905/3/2024, the complaint filed by the defendant Dumitrescu Iulian, against the DNA ordinance extending the judicial review, was rejected. The defendant was ordered to pay 200 lei in legal expenses advanced by the state,” the court decision states.

The measure of judicial control regarding Iulian Dumitrescu was extended by the DNA last week for another 60 days. PNL Prahova recently announced that it supports Dumitrescu for a new term as head of the Prahova County Council.

He would have received bribes, through accomplices, the total amount of 16,210,000 lei

Dumitrescu, former president of PNL Prahova and former first vice-president of PNL, is suspected that, with the help of his brother-in-law, Daniel Lambrea, he claimed, between November and December 2022, to a businessman the purchase in exchange for the sum of 47,500,000 lei of the shares held by Daniel Lambrea in a commercial company, value overestimated compared to their real value, in connection with the fulfillment of his duties as president of the Prahova County Council (CJ) and would have received, until December 4, 2023, with the help of the 2 accomplices, the total amount of 16,210,000 lei.

Iulian Dumitrescu did not declare significant sums of money

One of the businessman’s companies had a contract with CJ Prahova at the time of the claim, and after the acquisition of the commercial company from Lambrea, a new works contract with the beneficiary CJ Prahova would have been assigned to it.

Dumitrescu is also suspected of having omitted to include, in three of the wealth declarations he completed, significant sums of money that would have been spent mainly on trips abroad and luxury goods purchased from outside the country, high school private, tennis lessons, rent in a luxury residential complex, according to mediafax.
