Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu discussed on Wednesday, at the Victoria Palace, with the US special representative for the economic recovery of Ukraine, Penny Pritzker, about the role that Romania can play in the process of recovery and reconstruction of Ukraine considered at the international level after what will end the war started by Russia.
“We are at a stage of identifying the most effective methods of support and transposing them into an integrated strategy for the reconstruction of Ukraine, in which Romania wants to play an important role”, stated Marcel Ciolacu, quoted in a communiqué of the Government.
In the perspective of preparing and starting this process of reconstruction of Ukraine, Romania takes as its main benchmark the EU mechanism for Ukraine, worth 50 billion euros, and proposes to carry out bilateral actions, through direct collaboration with Ukraine, but and within extended formats, at the regional level or together with strategic partners, the prime minister also said.
The Head of the Executive added that Romania’s approach is based on the idea that the actions of the states that will be involved in the reconstruction of Ukraine must be complementary, not competitive, and that this process involves a long-term effort and the coordination of the entire international community, in which the role and involvement of the United States remain essential.
The perspective of European integration of Ukraine should guide the entire reconstruction process of this country.
