This morning, BCCO Craiova police officers are carrying out 8 searches in Dolj county, on minors and human traffickers.

In January 2023, a person allegedly recruited a 15-year-old minor, taking advantage of her obvious vulnerability (poor material situation, naivety, lack of education). Through misrepresentation (promises of cohabitation), the man would have transported and sheltered her in Italy. Through acts of physical and mental violence, he would have sexually exploited her, forcing her to practice prostitution (“on the street”).

In the criminal activity, she would have benefited from the support of another person (member of her family). This would have had the role of supervising the minor victim and collecting the sums of money resulting from the criminal activity.

The research carried out in the second file revealed that four people (members of the same family) would have recruited several injured persons, minors and adults, by misleading or taking advantage of their state of vulnerability, after which would have transported them to Italy, in order to obtain sums of money from their sexual exploitation.

The hearings will be held at the headquarters of the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism – Territorial Service Craiova.

Specialized support was provided by the Special Operations Directorate of the Romanian Police. The action benefits from the support of gendarmes from the Mobile Group of Gendarmes Craiova.
