The announcement was made by the Institution of the Prefect of Galati.
“Today, April 2, 2024, Mr. Claudiu – Sorin Gavril resigned from the post of prefect of Galati county, going to end his activity after the Romanian Government issues the decision regarding the termination of the mandate”, announced the representatives of the Galati Prefecture.
The prefect of Galaţi has confirmed that he is resigning in order to be able to run for the position of mayor of Tecuci in the local elections.
“Today I decided to resign from the position of prefect of Galati county in order to devote all my energy and experience to my candidacy for the position of mayor of Tecuci municipality. I consider it normal and correct not to simultaneously hold the position of election organizer and candidate in an electoral competition, so I chose to submit my mandate as prefect before the deadline imposed by the law”, explained the resigned prefect.
Claudiu Gavril was prefect supported by PSD. He will run for the Tecuci mayor’s office, also from the social democrats’ side. Currently, the position is occupied by the liberal Lucian Costin.
