Prefect Claudiu-Sorin Gavril resigned from his post on Tuesday, according to an information sent by the Prefect’s Institution – Galati County.
“Today, April 2, 2024, Mr. Claudiu-Sorin Gavril resigned from the post of prefect of Galati county, going to end his activity after the Government of Romania issues the decision regarding the termination of the mandate”, states the cited source.
Claudiu-Sorin Gavril submitted his resignation under the conditions in which he will run for the position of mayor of the municipality of Tecuci, from the Social Democratic Party.
“Today I decided to resign from the post of prefect of Galati county in order to devote all my energy and experience to my candidacy for the post of mayor of Tecuci municipality. I consider it normal and correct not to simultaneously hold the position of election organizer and candidate in an electoral competition, so I chose to submit my mandate as prefect before the deadline imposed by law. In conclusion, I want to thank all my colleagues from the Prefect’s Institution and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as those from the decentralized public services for the fruitful collaboration we have had so far’, Claudiu-Sorin Gavril sent on his Facebook account.
Claudiu-Sorin Gavril was prefect of Galati county twice, for one week in January 2022 and then from February 2023 until now.
