125 animals, dogs and cats owned or abandoned, were sterilized free of charge on March 30 and 31, 2024 in Vintileasca commune, Vrancea. The action started in November 2023. Cases of animals requiring sterilization were identified, people were convinced of the need to sterilize animals, a WhatsApp group was set up in which information was provided on the conditions under which an animal can be sterilized, advice about capturing stray animals and others. Thus, the action gained the trust of the animal owners but also of the institutions and people who carried out the project: “Care for dogs Romania” in collaboration with Dr. Alexandru Zafiu from Brașov and the Town Hall of the Vintileasca commune, Vrancea.

Animals of the households in Vintileasca, Jitia, Chiojdeni, Câmpineanca (Vrancea) but also in Pleși (Bisoca, Buzău) were sterilized. The satisfaction of the team that took care of the organization or implementation of the project was all the greater as they were able to help animal lovers from different backgrounds, from different places, thus ensuring the information of as many householders as possible with on the benefits of neutering dogs and cats.

Valea Râmnicului – and not only it – has become the Valley of Weeping, dramatic and moving scenes can be seen daily along the road that connects our villages to Focșani or Râmnicu Sărat. Animals only skin and bones, sick, hungry, blind animals, dying animals that worms eat alive. Poisoned animals, tortured animals, animals killed with hair; mothers who have nothing left to feed their little ones, little ones who scream for their mothers, because they are hungry, thirsty, cold or too hot and they don’t know where to turn.

Is this the Romania we want?! Could this be Romania-Garden of God?! No, of course not! That’s why all mayors must understand that a free sterilization campaign must not only address animals within the radius of the municipality they administer. What have I done if I help to sterilize the animals in my commune but then my commune is filled with puppies and kittens brought from other localities?!

Love and care for animals is proof of empathy, respect for life, a normal reaction to suffering but also to the beauty around! Love and care for animals is proof of civilization, of faith in Good! And Good means God…

We sincerely thank the people who turned a day of their life into a good deed! We thank the householders, animal lovers from Vintileasca and those from other localities, without whom we would not have met the conditions necessary to approve this campaign!

Together we are stronger!

I am very glad that I met quality people who understood to help! Thank you all! We will be here another time…

Stana Georgescu-Apostu, Vintileasca
