The driver under the influence of alcohol at the wheel who seriously injured two children, aged 3 and 9, in the town of Arsa, was detained for 24 hours and will be presented, on Tuesday, to the case prosecutor from the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Mangalia Court , with a legal proposal, informed the Constanta County Police Inspectorate (IPJ).
According to the mentioned source, the suspect, aged 64, is under criminal investigation for committing the crimes of culpable bodily harm and driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or other substances.
In the afternoon of April 1, on Mihai Eminescu Street in the village of Arsa, two children, aged 3 and 9, were seriously injured after being hit by a drunk driver who lost control of the direction of the car.
After the minors were injured, the driver drove the vehicle into a bridgehead, into two parked cars and then into the fence of a building.
“The police officers dispatched to the scene found that a 64-year-old man allegedly drove a car, lost control of the direction and injured two minors, aged 3 and 9 years respectively. Later, the car allegedly entered the collision with a bridge head, after which it allegedly hit two parked vehicles and the fence of a building. As a result of the road accident, the driver and the two minors were injured. The driver was tested with the breathalyzer, the result was 0.84 mg/l pure alcohol in the exhaled air. It was also tested with the device provided, in order to establish indications regarding the possible presence of psychoactive substances, the result being negative. Later, he was taken to a medical facility, for the collection of biological samples, in order to establish the blood alcohol level”, informed on Monday evening, through a press release, IPJ Constanţa.
According to the Constanţa County Ambulance Service, one of the children, a 3-year-old boy, suffered a cranio-cerebral trauma, and the second, a 9-year-old girl, suffered serious polytraumas, being in a coma and intubated. Both children were transported to the Constanta County Emergency Clinical Hospital.
