Hundreds of Roma turned up for the “judgment” in Chiajna, after a 14-year-old minor was sold for 35,000 euros to a family from Răcari, to marry a 16-year-old boy.

The misunderstanding arose between the two families, after the boy’s relatives questioned the girl’s honor, according to Gândul.

After several contradictory discussions, the teenager was taken to a gynecologist, who after consulting her assured the in-laws that the patient was a virgin.

The evidence did not change the future in-laws’ minds, so they decided to call off the wedding. After this decision, a conflict broke out between the two clans, because the minor’s family had already collected the amount of money.

To end the conflict, the clans resorted to a bulibaşa to decide who is right. Around 200 people participated in the “process” organized in Chiajna last week.

At the end of the gypsy trial, it was decided that the minor’s relatives should return 20,000 euros from the total amount of 35,000 euros to the boy’s family, and 15,000 euros should be kept by the girl’s family as a “shame fee”, due to the fact that the wedding was canceled by the boy’s relatives.
