It has been proven that an intake of at least 250 milligrams per day contributes to the maturation of nerve cells. Moreover, there are studies that show that a constant consumption of Omega 3 over a long period leads to an increase in the intelligence quotient in children.

Omega 3 has an anti-inflammatory effect and neutralizes the pro-inflammatory effect of Omega 6. If we want the body to be in balance, then we need an intake of Omega 6 and Omega 3 of 4 to 1, i.e. for every 4 units of vegetable oils rich in Omega 6, we must consume at least one unit of fish oil with Omega 3″, said Mihaela Bilic on social networks.

According to the nutritionist, Omega 3 has a proven protective role on the cardiovascular system. There are over 15,000 studies showing the benefits of Omega 3 consumption for the heart.

“A minimum intake of 1000 mg of natural EPA and DHA, of marine origin, leads to a 35% decrease in heart attack, which is fatal. Unfortunately, 18,000 people die annually worldwide from cardiovascular causes. Even in Romania, we are not better in this regard. The European Society of Cardiology considers us a country with high cardiovascular risk”, said nutritionist Mihaela Bilic on social networks.

Omega 3 can delay the onset of menopause by up to 3.3 years

According to Mihela Bilic, a diet rich in fatty fish and fresh vegetables has miraculous effects on the synthesis of female sex hormones.

“The synergistic action between Omega 3, vitamin C and antioxidants in vegetables neutralizes the free radicals responsible for aging. If until now we thought that genetic inheritance could not be influenced, it seems that things have changed. With fish oil, women delay menopause and osteoporosis, and the figure also benefits. Omega 3 does not make you fat, but regulates your appetite and helps you lose weight.

Did you know that there is an Omega 3 index that shows the level of EPA AND DHA in the body? An index between 8 and 12% means low risk of cardiovascular disease and optimal functioning for the brain, eyes and joints. Because we don’t eat fatty fish often enough, in Romania the Omega 3 index is below 4%, but don’t panic. There are solutions. We need a diet rich in fatty fish and seeds. We can supplement the diet with supplements, but look at the label. Not all supplements are equally effective”, said nutritionist Mihaela Bilic on social networks.
