The Queen of Spain’s health problems seem very serious. Letizia showed up again in espadrilles

--

King Felipe’s wife is a lover of high heels, and what she’s probably living right now is a nightmare she’d like to wake up from.

For King Felipe and Queen Letizia, two very important events are coming up: on May 22, the 20th anniversary of their marriage, and on June 19, it will be ten years since King Felipe ascended the Spanish Throne.

The lovely Letizia used to flaunt her impressive collection of stilettos every time in public. Unfortunately, however, her leg problems seem to be getting worse. Not only did she give up the small heels that she considered a compromise solution until recently, but for a few days she appears in sneakers and espadrilles, something that a few years ago would have been unthinkable for her.

And always looking to sit down. On her most recent foreign visit, when she attended the state dinner hosted by the King and Queen of the Netherlands, Letizia caused real concern as she did not get up from her chair at all.

On May 8 in Madrid, King Felipe and Queen Letizia marked the 200th anniversary of the Spanish National Police in an impressive ceremony at the Royal Palace.

Queen Letizia was very nicely dressed: with white pants and a long black and white suit. She left her hair loose and perfectly laid, and on her feet she opted for white espadrilles.

Spanish publication El Mundo previously reported that the Queen suffers from chronic metatarsalgia – foot pain – in both feet, as well as Morton’s neuroma in her right foot, a compressive neuropathy of the interdigital nerve, which often causes pain in the forefoot region.

Morton’s neuroma, also known as interdigital neuroma, is a painful disease that affects the nerves in the toes. This usually occurs between the third and fourth toe, but it can also appear on other toes on the foot.

What is the cause that leads to the appearance of Morton’s neuroma?

The exact cause of Morton’s neuroma is not fully known, but it is believed that repeated pressure or trauma to the interdigital nerve causes inflammation and facilitates the formation of a small benign tumor called a neuroma.

This can be caused by a variety of factors, including tight shoes, foot deformities (such as flat feet), repetitive activities, or repeated trauma.

Pain is the first symptom that the patient feels, in the front part of the foot, especially between the third and fourth toe, according to the Medicover medical website.

The pain can be described as a burning sensation, tingling or numbness. Sometimes, the symptoms can radiate to the neighboring fingers. The pain is felt more intensely when the patient wears either tight shoes or shoes that have a narrow toe, such as high-heeled shoes, for example.
