David Duchovny, the “X-Files” actor, looked back and remembered the moment he almost lost his daughter, West, 25 years old today.
The 63-year-old star passed away more than two decades ago. Then his daughter contracted a respiratory virus dangerous to the lungs and the entire respiratory system. Seeing West fighting for her life was a traumatic experience for her parents, David Duchovny and Tea Leoni.

“When my daughter was nine months old, she got the RSV virus (respiratory syncytial virus). I had never heard of this virus until my daughter. It’s very dangerous for babies. She ended up in the hospital and nobody knew what she had. They thought it was She had meningitis. They gave her a lumbar puncture. That was her first cold, I think. David told in a talk with Kelly Ripa, in a radio show. He also revealed that everything unfolded like a nightmare and that he thought he was going to lose his baby.

During that time, Duchovny was navigating the life of a parent and that of a TV star, being then in the middle of filming “The X-Files”. It was his wife at the time, Tea Leoni, from whom he split in 2014, who stayed with their little one in the hospital while he was on set. When he got home after work and visited his daughter, the actor couldn’t help but think about what his life might look like if he lost his child. “It was a real possibility. I was thinking about it and realized that I could never get over it. Life would have no meaning and no joy. I would have moved on, but I would have been a shadow.”David added.
David Duchovny and his ex-wife, Tea Leoni, have two children: West (25) and Kyd (21). The actors separated after 17 years of marriage. West followed in her famous parents’ footsteps and became an actress.
