“We are not aware of any allegations at this time,” said a spokesman for Jill Stein’s campaign.

Stein was at the protest to support students who set up camp on campus and said they would not leave until the University of Washington severed ties to Israel and Israeli academic institutions.

In a video recorded before her arrest and posted on X, the Green Party candidate said she supports students and their constitutional rights to free speech.

“We’re going to sit here with the students who stand for democracy, stand for human rights, fight to end genocide,” Stein said.

David Schwab, communications director for Jill Stein, said Stein tried to defuse the situation between protesters and police Saturday afternoon, but that police “were not responsive” and began making arrests shortly afterward.

“As Dr. Stein said, it is shameful that university administrations condone the use of force against their own students who are simply demanding peace, human rights and an end to a genocide that the American people abhor,” Schwab said.

Stein’s campaign manager and deputy campaign manager were also arrested.

Hundreds of arrests were made on university campuses on Saturday amid clashes between law enforcement and protesters, as activists vowed to continue the movement calling for a cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas war, among other issues.
