Critical situation on the eastern front in Ukraine. The Russians announced that they had captured another village in the region

On Sunday, Russia claimed the capture of a new village on the eastern front of Ukraine, Novobahmutivka, in the sector where Russian forces have advanced rapidly recently, Reuters and AFP inform, Agerpres reports.

“Thanks to active operations, the units of the central group of forces liberated the village of Novobahmutivka,” located northwest of the town of Avdiivka, captured by Russian forces in February, the Russian Defense Ministry said in its daily report.

The DeepState Telegram channel, close to the Ukrainian military and followed by more than 700,000 people, blamed the 115th Motorized Brigade for “the collapse of defenses in the entire region, causing considerable losses”.

The Ukrainian forces, which are increasingly short of troops and ammunition, are subjected to an intense offensive by the Russian army after the fall of the city of Avdiivka.

In mid-April, the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian forces, Oleksandr Sîrski, admitted that the situation on the eastern front had “deteriorated considerably”.

In this context, the head of Ukrainian military intelligence Kirilo Budanov predicted that the situation will worsen in the second half of May, which will be a “difficult period” for Ukraine.
