“Metal Corrosion” is a rock band founded in the 80s, at the Palace of Pioneers in the USSR, but which declared itself rebellious from the beginning. It also causes scandal in Putin’s Russia. The founder and soloist of “Metal Corrosion”, Serghei Troițki (Spider) had so far many problems with the militia. This time, they got the spectators up as well.

Together with three artists from “Metal Corrosion”, 40 spectators of the concert held the other day at the “Hate” club in Nizhny Novgorod were detained by the militia, claims the Kommersant newspaper in Russia. The information was confirmed by several Russian press agencies. In the world of Russian heavy metal music, “Metal Corrosion” is a cult band.

“The leader of the Metal Corrosion group, Serghei Troițki (Spider), will be prosecuted based on the article promoting Nazi symbols, said the band’s director, Maria Runova”, the media reported.

The representative of the rock band claims that “Law enforcement officers want to stage another ‘naked party’ for us, although this is not the case at all, because none of the members of the musical group violated Russian law.”

Metal Corrosion says they didn’t display any Nazi symbols, just “old Slavic symbols in the form of various images of the sun with bent rays in a circle.”

The accusation of “Nazism” has been one of the main lines of communication of the Russian Federation since the invasion of Ukraine. Several well-known opponents of the Putin regime or ordinary citizens were charged using the article on the propaganda of Nazi symbols (Article 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation).

Sergei Troitsky, an “old client” of the militia of the USSR and Russia

A fan of Iron Maiden, Venom, Black Sabbath, The Who, Metallica, Sergei Troitsky repeatedly came to the attention of law enforcement agencies in the Soviet Union and then the Russian Federation.

His band “Corrosion of Metal” is a heavy metal band that was on a tour of cities in Russia when the lead singer, two guitarists and 40 concertgoers were arrested.

Troitsky’s band’s songs were considered infamous even during the “Perestroika” era, when they had to self-release their albums, initially being rejected by Russian record companies.

In 2002, a criminal case was opened against Troitsky for inciting national hatred. The results of the investigation have not been released.

In 2015, the band’s lead singer was sentenced to a criminal fine, in one case for performing a song recognized as extremist.

Just this year, at the end of January 2024, Troitsky was detained by the police for drinking vodka at the premiere of the film “Brother-3” at the Oktyabr cinema. The leader of the group called what happened “a ten bottle vodka show”.
