On Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 17:20, the operations center of the South Bavarian Police Headquarters received a report of two seriously injured men in Murnau, Burggraben. Rescuers who were alerted immediately were able to establish on the spot that one of the men had already died from serious injuries.

The second man, who was found with very serious injuries, also died despite immediate resuscitation measures being taken after he was taken to a nearby hospital.

As part of the immediate search, a 57-year-old suspect was found and arrested at his home address, not far from the crime scene, the same evening. The suspect is a Russian citizen.

The victims are Ukrainian citizens aged 23 and 36. Both people lived in the district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

The prosecutor’s office submitted a request for the arrest of the 57-year-old suspect before the investigative judge. The investigators do not know yet whether the three people involved in the incident knew each other, nor the motive of the two murders.

In this context, the police requested relevant information from the public, in order to clarify the exact circumstances in which the crime occurred.
