The judge appreciated the mitigating circumstance of unjustified delays in the process, as the case was judicially stopped for reasons independent of the will of the accused. The prison sentences, totaling 3 years and ten months for all, were suspended, as was the expulsion from Mallorca. The civil liability fine that the 11 must pay amounts to 5,290 euros.

The network, in a police macro-operation in which more than a hundred agents participated, was dismantled in August 2020. At the time, the National Police estimated the loot obtained by the organization since its installation in Mallorca, in 2010, at 12.5 million Of euro. On the morning of August 10, approximately twenty homes on the island were searched and agents seized over 300 stolen items.

The investigation revealed that part of the gang lived all year round in Mallorca and in the height of the season, in addition to committing thefts, they rented the spaces in their homes to other Romanians who came to the island to commit crimes with them.

Their preferred areas of action and affected areas were Platja de Palma, the Cathedral, Castell de Bellver, the main EMT bus lines, the old town, Port dAlcúdia, Port de Sóller, Valldemossa and Cala Rajada.

When they were arrested, the Romanians constituted, according to Ultima Hora, the largest organization of pickpockets in Europe, having 34 members detained in the operation of the Iberian police.
