Earthquake with magnitude above 6 in Taiwan, earthquake of 3.5 in the Black Sea

An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 occurred on Saturday morning (local time) in Taiwan, the Taiwanese Meteorological Agency announced, without triggering a tsunami alert on the island, which was rocked by numerous earthquakes on Monday and Tuesday, reports AFP.

The earthquake occurred near the coastal area, on Saturday, at 2:21 local time (Friday, 9:21 p.m. Romanian time), at a depth of 24.9 kilometers.

The earthquake triggered alerts on mobile phones in the capital, Taipei, according to an AFP journalist.

Taiwan was shaken on Tuesday morning by a new series of dozens of earthquakes, which did not result in casualties, according to the authorities, but caused buildings to shake, including in the capital Taipei, reports AFP and Reuters, according to Agerpres.

According to Taiwan’s Central Meteorological Agency, the series of earthquakes – more than 200 since Monday afternoon and with a maximum magnitude of 6.3 – are aftershocks of the major earthquake on April 3, which had a magnitude of 7.4 and caused about 17 deaths and over 1100 injured.

On April 27, 2024, at 06:35:27 (local time of Romania), a weak earthquake occurred in the BLACK SEA with a magnitude of ml 3.5, at a depth of 22.1 km.
