The Greek-Catholic priest Remus Dobra from Dumbrăvița, Timiş county, died in a serious accident on the A1 highway. His car crashed violently into a truck, and the man was thrown from the car where he died.
According to the first information provided by IPJ Arad, the priest hit another car behind a truck, after which he hit the side parapet. Following the strong impact, the 45-year-old man was thrown from the car and died.
The police and rescuers were alerted to the accident and rushed to the scene, but it was too late. Doctors had to declare the priest dead.
“In the evening of September 27, around 8:15 p.m., on the A1 highway, lane 1, at km. 531, there was a road accident, as a result of which a person lost his life. A car driven by a 45-year-old man from Timiș county hit the back of a road assembly, later colliding with the side parapet.
The victim was ejected from the vehicle, and the medical staff at the scene pronounced him dead. The driver of the train was tested with the alcohol test device, the result being negative”, according to IPJ Arad.
“With deep soul pain, we inform you that on September 27, 2022 – in a flash – passed to the eternal, our brother in Christ, Rvs. Rev. Dr. Remus Dobra, being 45 years old, parish priest in Dumbrăviţa and Giarmata”, says a post on Facebook of the Greek Catholic Diocese of Lugoj.
The police are continuing their investigations to find out exactly how the terrible accident happened.
