More than 3,000 high school graduates from the whole country, teachers and education specialists participated in the event to promote the teaching profession, with the slogan “Be a PRO!” Choose to be a teacher!”, organized during the education week.

At the event, the graduates had the opportunity to examine the educational offer, presented in an exhibition attended by 13 universities from the Republic of Moldova.

The Minister of Education, Dan Perciun, came with a message to young people, in which he spoke to them about the social impact of the teaching profession, about the opportunities, but also the challenges of this job.

“Our goal is to help you look at the teaching profession from a different perspective and, at the very least, encourage you to explore this career option. The teaching profession, like any other profession, has advantages and challenges. The biggest plus – obviously, is the joy of working with such young, wonderful children like you. This is extremely valuable. A good teacher changes destinies, changes societies, has the power to compensate for modest beginnings, for dysfunctional families. It’s the best chance a child can have. Everyone, but absolutely everyone, remembers a good teacher in 10 years and in 50 years. And usually it’s not about the things he taught, but about how he made you feel, about the confidence in yourself, the advice he gave and the openness to support you to dream more. I’ve had teachers like that, and I’m sure you have too – at least one. And these people are titans. And you can be such people too. People – appreciated and remembered by generations”, said Dan Perciun.

Present at the event, Prime Minister Dorin Recean appreciated the dedication and professionalism of the teaching staff, emphasizing that the effort they make is an important investment in the generation of people who will build the European future of the Republic of Moldova.

The prime minister also encouraged young people to choose a career in the educational system, stressing that the Government will continue to support transformations in this field and provide access to a modern and high-performing education.

“The field of education is a priority for the Executive. We have several programs aimed at improving the working conditions of teachers and providing modern tools, necessary to increase the quality of studies. The government increased the salary of teachers by 15%, offered a one-time allowance of 200 thousand lei upon employment, and our actions will continue to increase an educational system with motivated teachers and young people who will help us build a European Moldova”, he said Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

Annually, about 1,200 young people choose to study in education programs.
