A new hypermarket appears in Romania. The price of the products will depend on the quantity you buy

After entering the discount segment, the retailer Auchan opened in Brașov the first hypermarket ATAC Hiper Discount by Auchan, instead of Auchan Brașov Vest, based on the strategy of low prices, for any purchasing power.

“Down with the prices”

Auchan retailer announced that it has opened ATAC Hiper Discount by Auchan in Brașov, replacing the Auchan Brașov West store. The retailer relies on the pricing strategy of different levels depending on the quantity of products purchased.

“With the message ‘Down with the prices!’, which best expresses the essence of the efforts made, ATAC Hiper Discount by Auchan (…) brings a range of 17,000 carefully selected products on an area of ​​6,000 square meters, at very advantageous prices for both individuals both physical and legal”according to an Auchan press release.

The retailer specifies that the hyper discount strategy is aimed at all budgets, with various assortments (fresh products, cosmetics, drinks, soft drinks, hygiene products, detergents, groceries, etc.), 60% being food and 40% non-food products, produced in Romania and in other countries.

“Cascade” pricing policy

In Brașov, Auchan practices the so-called “cascade” price policy, in which the price per piece of a product decreases if the purchased volume is greater. The retailer also offers special prices to customers who have loyalty cards.

“The new ATAC Hiper Discount by Auchan, located on Cristianului Road, no. 5, in the Bartolomeu district, instead of Auchan in Eliana Mall, offers customers the opportunity to save on each visit, including through “cascading” price policies in which the price / piece of a certain product decreases as the quantity purchased is more big. In addition, customers who hold a MyCLUB Auchan or MyBusiness CLUB Auchan loyalty card benefit from special prices on a selection of products”says the retailer.

In addition to the new hypermarket in Brașov, Auchan previously opened two discount hypermarkets, one in Timișoara and another in Ploiești. The portfolio of the French retailer, owned by the Mullinez family, in Romania is over 430 stores (hypermarket, supermarket, convenience) with a turnover of 6.937 billion lei in 2022.

“Treasure in the Cart”

Auchan has also launched a surprise shopping strategy called “treasure in the trolley”, which involves customers purchasing a trolley with non-food products in which they cannot see the contents.

As part of the campaign, customers benefited from a 65% discount on the purchase of the “mystery trolley”. “It is a unique opportunity to enjoy experiences full of surprises and live the adrenaline of discovery”according to the retailer.
