Petre has no peace even ten years after his son died. Viorel was not married, and he spent his last years abroad, working as a truck driver. His father says that his son would have had big problems abroad, after some malicious people had put drugs in his cargo.

Petre says he used to talk to his son often, but before he died, the conversations between the two became shorter and shorter. In the last phone conversation with his father, Viorel told him that he feared for his life, but even so, he continued to work as a truck driver. His last race was from Italy to France, where he would have been killed by mobsters.

“They wanted to acquit him. I didn’t know much. I talked to him every day and three or four times a day. After he left, two months back, we talked less often that he didn’t have money on the phone, although I always put it in, so that I would talk once a day. I asked him if he was in trouble. He was already being followed. It was put in his car, four pallets were put in the car, it is not known whether weapons or drugs, but I think more drugs”, said Petre, to Acces Direct.

He would have been in the race with a friend

Petre says that his son had a friend from Păunești with whom he used to go racing. Except that Viorel and that man were no longer friends, after Petre’s son woke up with drugs and weapons in the truck. Since then, the man says he doesn’t know what happened to his son or whether Viorel was killed or not.

“He was given pills for a stomach ache. He couldn’t follow, because he had to follow the car (…) He left him there, he went about his business. Both trucks had the same load. I think food or clothes. He was leaving Italy and going to France, Germany,” the man also told Acces Direct.
