The gendarmes from Braşov rescued a 47-year-old woman, who had been reported missing, and who intended to end her life.

The gendarmes had started looking for the woman, after she was reported missing on April 2. They noticed her in the area of a fishing pond near the Olt river, between the municipality of Făgăraș and the commune of Beclean, giving the impression that she was planning to jump.

When they approached her and tried to calm her down, the woman became agitated and jumped into the cold water, at which point one of the gendarmes jumped in to save her.

The woman was brought ashore with the help of the gendarme’s crewmate, but also that of the policemen, who arrived at the scene in the meantime.

“At the request of fellow police officers, on April 2 this year, a crew of gendarmes from the Făgăraș Gendarmerie Detachment went in search of a missing woman.

Based on the information received, our colleagues began to carefully check the area of a fishing pond located near the Olt river, between the municipality of Făgăraș and the commune of Beclean.

After about 15 minutes, one of the gendarmes noticed some clothes on the bank of the pond and with the help of binoculars he also saw a person. The gendarmes immediately went to the area where they saw her, and after overcoming a channel full of water with difficulty, they approached the woman who gave the impression that she was planning to jump into the water.

They tried to calm her down, to have a conversation with her, but the only words she said were confused and meaningless, and the moment our colleague approached her, she became increasingly agitated and entered the cold water. It was the moment when our colleague, platooner Constantinescu Tiberiu, jumped into the water after her and tried to get her out of there as quickly as possible.

Considering the steep bank, the mud on the bottom of the water, but also the constitution of the woman, he did not succeed alone and needed the support of his crewmate, but also that of his fellow policemen, who had arrived there in the meantime.

The woman was pulled ashore and later transported to the nearest hospital.

Tibi and Sergiu…Thanks to your intervention, a man lives today! It’s the most beautiful way you chose to celebrate the Day of the Romanian Gendarmerie!”, wrote the representatives of the Braşov Gendarmerie on Facebook.
