The prices of industrial production continued to decrease in February by almost one percent compared to January, and by more than 6% compared to February last year, according to the data published today by the National Institute of Statistics. Financial analyst Adrian Codîrlaşu explained to Radio România Actualităţi what this evolution was based on.
Adrian Codîrlaşu: If we look at the energy component, the decrease was almost 18.5% – I mean all types of energy, both electric and natural gas. In terms of inflation, I don’t think much will be seen, because energy prices, both electricity and methane gas, have been capped in Romania. The market will probably be pre-liberalized and then maybe we will see a slight decrease in inflation as well, but a good thing and which in the longer term can lead to a slowdown in price growth, reducing the production cost of companies, since energy is cheaper, automatically future increases of prices will not be so high.
