The President of the AUR, George Simion, criticized on Tuesday the decision of the Permanent Bureau not to put on the agenda of the Senate plenary the emergency ordinance regarding the merger of the elections, noting that the current coalition avoids the “verification of the constitutionality” of this normative act. He presented the AUR posters from the campaign for the European Parliament elections, “a famous character, you know her from cartoons, Ursula”.

“Earlier, the merger ordinance had to be put on the agenda of the Senate. After it was postponed for two weeks to have time to think, even today the merger ordinance was not put on the agenda of the Senate and on April 6 it passes silently. Obviously, this ordinance is unconstitutional and the current coalition avoids the constitutionality test, the verification of its constitutionality, but what did the People’s Advocate do? What is the Constitutional Court doing, which was referred to us through an extraordinary way? It is not admissible (…). The emperor is empty, at this moment we have unconstitutional combined elections and a coup d’état in full swing. As I announced, we will use any means, no matter how extreme, but democratic, to stop this coup d’état and this attack on the Constitution and the rule of law in Romania”, stated Simion, at a press conference at the Palace of the Parliament .

In this context, he presented the AUR posters from the campaign for the European Parliament elections.

“For the first time, we present the AUR posters from the campaign for the European Parliament elections. She is a famous character, you know her from the cartoons, she is Ursula (not Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the European Commission). Mrs. Ursula is a cartoon character, we will use her as a mascot. Unfortunately, PSD and PNL support her in the presidency of the European Commission and they support this octopus, they support corruption at the European level. This is the degree of obedience, this is the level we have reached in the country”, said the AUR leader.

He mentioned that the AUR will propose to all the parties in the 27 states of the European Union to sign a pact “by which they commit that they will not vote for Ursula von der Leyen as the next head of the EC”.

Regarding the local elections on June 9, Simion said that AUR will have candidates for all councils in the country.

“AUR will have candidates for all the councils, for the presidencies of the county councils and for the town halls of the county seat municipality. We will present these candidates on Sunday, in a special event, 41 candidates for the presidencies of the county councils and 41 candidates for the mayors of the county seat municipalities. Let’s not expect one and the other to get rid of us, even if these elections should not take place on June 9, but on September 29, as is legally constitutional and as it is in a natural order. What will the subjects of Mr. Klaus Werner Iohannis do for four months? They will have an elected mayor and a current mayor. It is not normal”, claimed Simion.
