Arkansas Tech University student Khynnedi Murry of Hot Springs is the 2024 recipient of the Lawrence Webb Memorial Scholarship.

Murry has earned a place on the ATU Dean’s List in multiple semesters. She is on pace to earn a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree at Arkansas Tech in May 2025.

The scholarship’s namesake, Lawrence Webb, earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Arkansas Tech in 1982. He was employed at Arkansas Nuclear One and lived in Russellville. He and his wife of 30 years, Evelyn, raised sons Bradford and Chandler. Lawrence passed away on Oct. 15, 2017. He was 57.

“Like my late husband, Khynnedi is intelligent, driven and steadfast in her educational goals,” said Evelyn Webb. “The moment I heard her backstory I knew it was pre-ordained that she would receive the scholarship. Of course, none of this would be possible without the unwavering encouragement of my sons, Bradford and Chandler.”

The Lawrence Webb Scholarship was established to benefit students at ATU. Recipients must be a minority student who is a sophomore, junior or senior with a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA and residency in Arkansas. Recipients must demonstrate financial need.
