During March 30-31, the Bihor military firefighters intervened to manage 72 emergency situations that occurred within the county, of which 60 were SMURD missions, 6 firefighting missions, of which 4 dry vegetation missions, one rescuing a person from the Barcău River, a wild bird rescue operation and a dog rescue operation, a person assistance mission and 2 interventions in other emergency situations.

On Saturday and Sunday, March 30-31, the crews of the Alesd Fire Station acted to extinguish three fires on a vacant lot located in Bratca (where they prevented the flames from spreading to a house located about one meter from the outbreak) and to two others lands in Șinteu and Uileacu de Criș, and the firefighters of the Ștei Station intervened to extinguish a fire that occurred on a pasture within the radius of the Chișcău locality, events resulting in the burning of dry vegetation on the respective lands, on a total area of ​​about six hectares.

On Saturday, March 30, Oradea firefighters intervened in the town of Săldăbagiu de Munte, where they extinguished a fire that broke out in a car. As a result of the event, the probable cause of which was electrical, the dashboard, a door and the windshield of the vehicle burned.

On Sunday, March 31, around 04:30, the crews of the 1st Oradea Detachment intervened to locate and extinguish a fire that occurred on the roof of a house, most likely due to a chimney not thermally protected against combustible materials. The flames affected about 60 square meters of the roof of the house and the kitchen door.

Rescue person

On Saturday, March 30, following a notification received in the ISU Bihor dispatch center, a fire crew from Oradea Detachment 2 was mobilized within the radius of Tămășeu to rescue a man from the Barcău River. While fishing, he slipped into the river, in a place where the water was deep and the currents were strong. The fisherman’s son managed to catch him and keep him afloat, but due to the steep bank and currents in the area, he was unable to evacuate him.

The military firefighters secured the victim with the specific accessories and brought her safely to shore. The man did not require medical attention.

Rescue dog

Also on Saturday, a caller of the unique number 112 requested the intervention of specialized crews to rescue a dog, from a disused well, located on a plot of land within the radius of Livada de Bihor, Nojorid commune.

A fire crew from Detachment 1 Oradea was mobilized to the place indicated by the caller. Using the provided sliding ladder, one of the crew members descended into the 10-meter-deep well and safely evacuated the dog, handing it over to the owners, who had arrived at the scene in the meantime.

Saving wild ducklings

On the same day, the firefighters of Oradea Detachment 1 were requested to intervene on Calea Aradului street in the municipality of Oradea, to rescue some wild ducklings, which had fallen into a rainwater channel, through the drain holes of the concrete slabs that covered it .

Firefighters removed part of the slabs, thus managing to reach the eight baby birds and bring them to the surface.
