Motorola edge 50 Pro is official! It comes with 144Hz curved screen, Snapdragon 7 Gen3 processor and IP68 certification

--

This day of April 3, 2024 marks the launch of Motorola edge 50 Pro, a mid-range smartphone with premium design, AI-powered camera and IP68 certification. In the style of the series “edge” the curves of the screen are also preserved, and we find all the details together in the lines below.

Design and Display

Design-wise, at least from the front, the phone doesn’t look very different from its predecessor Motorola Edge 40 Pro launched exactly one year ago in April. The same curved edges are retained, and the major difference is at the back where the photo module takes a different approach with a one-piece cover, reminiscent of the OPPO Find X5.

We have 3 color options available here namely black and purple with eco-leather and the silver/grey model which features an interesting wave gradient, here being a matte polycarbonate. The screen is a 6.7-inch pOLED with a refresh rate of 144Hz, a resolution of 2712 x 1220 pixels and a brightness of up to 2000 nits.

It is also the first smartphone to display Pantone validated colors for more accurate natural colors and skin tones.

Hardware

Internally, it seems that we have a downgrade compared to the predecessor that offered a Snapdragon 8 Gen2 processor, this is because here we meet a mid-range chipset, a Snapdragon 7 Gen3not even the Plus version seen recently on the OnePlus Ace 3V.

At the back we find a triple setup that includes 50 mpx wide camera (f/1.4, OIS) + 10 megapixel telephoto (3x optical zoom, 50x hybrid zoom) + 13 mpx ultra-wide. The latter offers autofocus and thus also macro capture.

It should be noted that the Edge 50 Pro is the first Motorola smartphone to bring AI Photo Enhancement Engine with optimizations for motion capture and color segmentation. Also on the AI functions side, we tick adaptive stabilization, tracking autofocus, tilt mode. The camera is also Pantone certified to capture colors naturally.
