Samsung Galaxy A55 it follows in the footsteps of its predecessor in terms of design, and that means that things do not change significantly, the general look being preserved here from any angle you look at the phone. What changes a little are the dimensions because we have a 0.2 inch larger screen, so we reach 161.1 x 77.4 x 8.2 mm and a weight of 213 grams, from 158.2 x 76.7 x 8.2 mm and a weight of 202 grams on the Galaxy A54 .

The phone feels decidedly heavier than its predecessor and is a well-distributed weight when you hold it in your palm, and this increase is not only from the increase in diagonal, but also because of the materials used. The Galaxy A55 can now be called a premium phone, that’s because it has glass on the back (Gorilla Glass protection), as well as a metal frame this time, aluminum more precisely, where the A54 had a plastic frame).

The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+ and related to the frame I like that approach in the area of the physical buttons with a slope that somehow reminds me of the Galaxy Alpha series. The phone is a really solid one and it feels like that because I still brought up the durability, IP67 certification it’s kept here, with resistance to dust and immersion in water up to 1 meter deep for 30 minutes.

Viewed from the back, the phone can easily be mistaken for a Samsung Galaxy S24, which is a strong point considering the lower price paid here. The camera layout is identical, as is the LED flash. The main visual difference is the colors, with vibrant hues and a glossy finish on the Galaxy A55.

I got the yellow version Lemon, which also has a frame in tone with this shade and with that “brushed aluminum” type effect. I’m not a fan of the glossy glass on the back, and I don’t find the rainbow effect the back takes on in some lighting scenarios all that fascinating either, somehow giving the impression of a cheap, plastic model like the A50 was in 2019.

Overall though, the premium allure with metal frame, glass back, updated screen protector and youthful colors should be appreciated. Where the A55 still loses points in terms of design is the front, with somewhat large edges around the screen for current trends, even if the situation has improved since the A54 with a body-to-screen ratio of 82.9%, now we reach 85.8%.
