Precisely for this reason, the landowner in Pipera set him a huge termination clause. Few people know, however, that the midfielder was under investigation by DIICOT (Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism), informs Cancan.

The prosecutors were alerted, three years ago, regarding a possible crime of child pornography committed by Octavian Popescu. More exactly, the “pearl” of Gigi Becali distributed a video showing a minor in sexually explicit poses. However, the footballer got away with it!

The prosecutors’ resolution took into account, claim judicial sources, the fact that the pornographic material distributed by Tavi Popescu was of a general nature and that it was not about any blackmail action or footage distributed with the intention of compromising any person.

Octavian Popescu was not considered a public danger by the prosecutors!

The investigation showed that the footage was of a private nature, but the victim did not expressly ask the footballer not to broadcast it. In addition, the prosecutors considered that Octavian Popescu’s action was not large-scale, but episodic, so that he was not assessed as a public danger.

At the hearings at the Prosecutor’s Office, Gigi Becali’s “gold mine” declared, according to those from Cancan, that he had no intention of harming anyone, that he had no criminal record and that, a possible sanction would could compromise his football career. Tavi Popescu’s lawyer added, regarding his client, that he recently debuted for the “national” team of Romania, that he plays for FCSB, an important club in the Super League, being considered one of the most promising young Romanian football players.

The act for which Popescu was investigated – child pornography, punishable by up to 7 years in prison – took place in 2019. At that time, he was 18 years old. Sources close to the investigation told us exclusively that, in October 2019, the footballer “shared on his Instagram account (“octavianpopescu10”) a pornographic video with a duration of 31 seconds.

The video showed a female person — a minor, having a young age according to the general features, during a sexual relationship with a man, people who have remained unidentified until now.

The footballer’s lawyer asked the Prosecutor’s Office to also take into account the time that has passed since the act was committed (almost three years), especially since it did not cause any harm to any person because it is not known who the subjects of that clip are.
