A bus traveling on the Ukraine-Turkey route overturned in Garoafa commune in Vrancea county. 43 people were in the coach, mostly Ukrainians, adults and children. The authorities immediately activated the red intervention plan. 23 people were taken to hospital for medical treatment. The other passengers were taken to an accommodation centre.
It seems that the driver lost control of the steering wheel, entered a bridge and the coach overturned.
“The Red Intervention Plan was activated this morning, after a bus overturned on E 85, at the entrance to Garoafa commune.
23 people were taken to hospital for medical evaluation, but none are in serious condition. One person suffered a shoulder dislocation and was hospitalized, and another person allegedly had polytrauma to the spine, but doctors are still evaluating the people who arrived at the Emergency Department of the Focşani County Emergency Hospital.
The rest of the bus passengers were taken to the Refugee Reception Center and then to the Refugee Accommodation Center. Around noon, they will be sent to Ukraine, and we will ensure their transport to the border,” said prefect Nicuşor Halici.
The accident happened around 2:45 a.m., in the coach coming from Turkey and heading to Ukraine, with Ukrainian mothers and children.
