The exhibition belongs to the artist Ma Viorel Bulz, assistant of the Popa’s Caricature Academy, member of the Romanian Tattooists Union and current student of the Master of Sculpture/Ceramics at UVT. The works in the exhibition are made together with his wife Kinga Bulz, also a student in the same discipline. They have been collaborating since 2022.
About the exhibition, the two artists say that they wanted a different concept from what they have seen before.
“I wanted a PopArt exhibition but not the classic style, from writing and comics, I also introduced a little realism, with writing and did something different. My wife and I had the same vision and said let’s give birth to something wonderful. It’s modern PopArt as we see it, much different from the classic one,” Viorel Bulz told Tion.
HYPER SMART MIXED ART, which means “very daring and smart” is a new current in contemporary art, which uses mixed techniques such as methods from Pop art, minimalism, hyper realism. The artists were inspired by characters from the real and fantasy worlds to “put the fantastic in themselves on canvas”.
“We dare not say too much that we are witnessing a historical moment in contemporary art and we are happy to be present at the launch of a new trend in contemporary art that uses mixed techniques such as methods from Pop art, minimalism, hyper realism. I named it ad hoc HYPER SMART MIXED ART. Hyper because it is hyped, meaning very bold, and smart because it does a reverse engineering through art: it forces you to feel very strongly in order to perceive the surrounding reality very smartly.
The two artists are inspired by remarkable characters from the real world and the fantastic world to put on canvas the fantastic in themselves”, noted Petronela D. Solovastru, cultural promoter.
In the exhibition you can admire around 20 works in the Pop Art style. The opening took place on Friday, September 23, at the Bastionul Maria Theresia in the Music House, being open until 10 pm. On Saturday, September 24, the exhibition can be admired in the time interval 18-22.
