Pensioners have ended up in a dramatic situation. They can’t pay their bills

The chief accountant of the Pensioners’ Mutual Aid House (CARP) in Targu Jiu explained that the elderly end up borrowing 200 lei to be able to pay the bills.

Moreover, queues have already formed at the counters of the banking institution, and most of the elderly need money for wood, coal, paying bills, but also for buying medicine.

“The borrowed amounts vary between 200 and 60,000 lei and can be paid in a maximum of two years”, said Mihaela Novac, chief accountant of CARP Gorj.

We remind you that the situation arose in the context where pensioners cannot be granted bank loans, due to their advanced age. Thus, they find CAR an unexpected help when they want to make a loan.

Pensioners with small pensions are increasingly forced to take out loans to survive

More and more retirees are turning to mutual aid loans to pay their electricity and natural gas bills during the winter. These amounts that those with low pensions have to take during the winter help them get through the difficult season.

Mihaela Novac, CARP Gorj accountant, previously said that most of them come and say that they are single, support themselves and need these amounts granted in the form of credit.

This is also the case of Constantin Dragomir from Timișoara, who came to pay the last installment of a loan of 2,000 lei. Frightened by the price increases, he is thinking of taking another loan.

“You can’t deal with the expenses, phone, gas, electricity, gigacalories, it’s been fantastically expensive for a long time,” he says.

Another case is represented by a man who has a pension of only 1,400 lei per month. In order to get the money, he has to make painful savings.

“At my house, a light bulb, a TV, a radio work and that’s it!”

Radu Onchiș, the president of CARP Oradea, explained in the past that the volume of loans granted is, in terms of value, more than 70% compared to the similar period of 2020.

“The volume of loans granted to our members is, by value, more than 70% compared to the similar period of 2020,” he said.
