The local retail market leader is changing the opening hours of its stores across the country, closing earlier.
“From September 26, 2022, all stores will have the same hours as follows: Monday – Saturday: 07:30 – 21:00, Sunday: 08:00 – 19:00,” the retailer’s representatives say.
The only exception is that of the Lidl store in Medgidia, located on str. Independţei, no. 12. It keeps its current schedule for Sunday and will operate between 08:00 and 18:00.
Lidl stores are currently open Monday to Saturday between 07:30 and 22:00 and on Sundays between 08:00 and 21:00.

Recently, the retailer was fined by ANPC with over 3.5 million lei. 265 stores were controlled, and for the irregularities found, ANPC commissioners applied the following sanctions: 347 contravention fines, totaling 3.5 million lei; 144 warnings; the definitive stop on the sale of non-compliant food products, in the amount of approximately 75,000 lei; temporary stoppage of service provision, until deficiencies are remedied, for 24 units; closure of the unit for a period of up to 6 months, for 4 stores; closure of the unit for a period of 6-12 months, for one unit.
Part of the Schwarz group, Lidl Romania is currently the leader of the local retail market after in 2021 it recorded a turnover of 14.8 billion lei, an increase of 16% compared to the result recorded in 2020. Moreover, the reported results by Lidl are not at all surprising, the discount channel gaining the most buyers, according to retail audit data.
Lidl is present in 32 countries worldwide and operates approximately 11,200 stores and more than 200 logistics centers in 29 countries worldwide. In Romania, the retailer entered the market ten years ago by taking over the discounter Plus.
