The fans of “U” Cluj did not accept in any way that the team’s rivals, CFR Cluj, would play the Super League match against Petrolul Ploiești at the Cluj Arena stadium, the match being scheduled for October 1.

After the desire of the CFR Cluj football team to play at Cluj Arena rekindled spirits in the city, Emil Boc called for calm and hopes that there will be no violent events between the fans of the two city rivals.

At the same time, the mayor claims that the direct match between “U” and CFR must provide an example of fair play.

“I am aware of the request submitted by the CFR Cluj club to play the match with Petrolul at the Cluj Arena. I welcomed the decision of the club management to withdraw their request and continue the dialogue, a wise decision. My opinion is that one should not force things when there is a possibility that they will degenerate.

I am convinced that the “U”-CFR match will be a model of fair play. In the end we are all from Cluj. Let’s show that we are capable of handling such an event. Sport and violence should not go hand in hand. You can also support your favorites in a civilized way, worthy of a European city. Those who have a connection with violence should develop their skills elsewhere. Sport and violence do not go hand in hand,” said mayor Emil Boc.

“U Cluj” fans displayed banners in Gruia

On Wednesday evening “Red Caps”, the supporters of the “U” Cluj team “planted” two offensive banners at the “Dr. Constantin Rădulescu” from Gruia.

The two banners displayed the messages “You want to cross the river/Be careful not to drown” and “When you go down the hill into the valley/You might break your legs.”

“Peluza Vișinie”, the supporters of the CFR Cluj team, returned the U-ists with the same coin and collected the two banners and threw them in sight in the Cluj Arena area.

“With Gruia not to be found, I left your garbage at the gate, did you run away so quickly?”, the supporters of the CFR Cluj team sent.
