A young man from Blaj learned his final punishment for attempted murder, after attacking another man with a knife. The magistrates of the Alba Iulia Court of Appeal judged his appeal, after the attempted murder he committed in October 2021.

Then for no reason he stabbed another man in the back, who managed to run away and save his life. In the first instance, the magistrates of the Alba Court sentenced him to 6 years in prison with execution.

What happened

According to the court’s reasoning, on the evening of October 15, 2021, the victim was on a street in Blaj, accompanied by his girlfriend who was holding a child. They were going from the woman’s house to a relative’s residence.

Out of the blue and for no reason, Remus appeared from behind and pulled out a penknife with which he stabbed the man twice, in the back and in the left arm.

The attacked man managed to run away from the attack and was found by another person. He saw the man when he was running down the street, covered in blood and shouting to call the rescue that he was injured, the court’s reasoning also states.

With the help of the person who found him on the street, the man took refuge in a woman’s house. Shortly after, the attacker also entered the woman’s yard, but a man took him out into the street, where he remained until the police arrived.

After the attack, the victim needed 35-40 days of medical care, but the injuries caused by the attacker put his life in danger.

On September 14, 2022, the magistrates of the Alba Iulia Court of Appeal rejected the man’s appeal against the sentence of the trial court. As a result, he will serve 6 years in prison for attempted murder.
