Bustle, games for children and food stalls of all kinds! This was the atmosphere on Saturday afternoon in the Public Garden in Galati

The citizens of Gălățăn, who went out for an evening stroll, were once again taken by surprise by the exorbitant prices at the Easter Festival, which takes place between April 26 and May 12.

From Friday evening, the Public Garden turned into a kind of babble, where the little ones taken out for a walk in the open air could not resist the sweets, ice cream and bubble tea with tempting flavors and colors made available by the traders hoping to make the hit financial during these festive days. A bottle of still water cost 10 lei at the stalls in the Public Garden, a boiled corn – 12 lei, and for a waffle with various fillings, a parent had to pay between 20 and almost 40 lei.

For a parent with two children, such an outing to the Public Garden rises well beyond the normal budget for a weekend afternoon

“Mommy, but how can I resist when there are so many goodies. I’d also like ice cream, and juice, maybe even a boiled corn,” whined a little girl of several years, whom her mother tried to convince to choose only a single product from those beautifully presented by street vendors. “It’s too expensive. I went out with the boys and only took 50 lei. It seemed like enough for a Saturday afternoon. Now they both want waffles and a product costs 26 lei. I’m struggling to get them I convince them to choose fewer ingredients, so that I can fit in the money”, said a mother who resignedly waited her turn at the tonneau with the sweets much coveted by the children.

Unfortunately, the remains of the products that the citizens of Galata consumed were thrown on the ground, all over the park. It is true that all the trash cans were full and there was no one to empty them, but that does not change the impression of lack of civilization created by the packaging, corn cobs and beer glasses scattered everywhere.

The cliff, full of mouth-helmet

On the bank of the Danube, where the Scrumbiei Festival took place this weekend, there was a real atmosphere of celebration, both on Saturday and on Sunday, Florii. Because the coveted scrumbie prepared on the ad hoc grills has been talked about for a long time, the people of Galața gathered on the Lower Cliff, also attracted by the beautiful weather outside. Moreover, the Day of Flowers offered the opportunity to change the menu for those who are in the Easter Fast. Even if a fish with polenta and garlic cost between 35 and 40 lei, the people of Galați enjoyed the company of their loved ones, the fresh air and were attracted by the grills on which the sizzling scum and the glasses of beer.

The culminating moment of the day was the presence among the guests of chef Scarlătescu, the master chef known to Galatians from TV shows, but also from his many visits to the city from the Danube at various celebrations, when he delighted those present with his gastronomic art.

The hustle and bustle on Faleza continued late into the night, both locals and guests taking advantage of the fact that the last week before Easter is a period with many free days, and the little ones have been on the last intermodular vacation of this school year since Monday.
