“I am a convinced feminist and I wanted to pay tribute to the citizens of Bucharest who voted for me three and a half years ago and I want to assure them of my full support. This is the symbol and by no means any other connotation,” Firea declared.

Several PSD leaders were with Firea at the BEC, taking their turn to criticize the current local administration: Marcel Ciolacu, Sorin Grindeanu, Paul Stănescu, Liviu Negoiță, Mihai Tudose, Radu Hopincă, Daniel Băluță. A few women were in the back rows.

Firea criticized the way he administered the city of Nicușor Dan.

“In these years, luck was only for two sectors that had capable mayors, Robert Negoiță in Sector 3 and Daniel Bălută in Sector 4, who made the difference and more and more Bucharesters want to move to these sectors because what what happens in the others is not normal, it is not worthy of a European capital. We talk about traffic lighted intersections and smartcity, but we have rats, potholes, there is dirt and garbage. To characterize the Middle Ages in just one phrase,” said Firea.

PSD President Marcel Ciolacu promised Gabriela Firea that he would unconditionally support her in her endeavors and projects for Bucharest.

Nicușor Dan would win the elections for the General City Hall with 31% of the votes, while Gabriela Firea, the PSD candidate who had just entered the race, would rank in second place with 24 percent, followed by Cristian Popescu Piedone (PUSL), with 20 %, according to an Avangarde survey published on Sunday, commissioned by the PSD, the first after the withdrawal of doctor Cătălin Cîrstoiu and the coalition’s decision to go for separate candidacies.

The PSD conference, disrupted by Marian “Ceaușescu”

The activist Marian “Ceaușescu” Moroșanu disrupted the beginning of the press conference organized by the PSD, asking Gabriela Firea why she deserves to be voted again by the citizens of Bucharest.

While shouting over the fence at the Electoral Office, the activist was asked by people witnessing the statements to stop shouting.

“Let me, sir, express myself freely,” said Marian Moroșanu. A gendarme told him to do it, but in a calmer tone.

The activist was angry that the gendarmes did not let him express himself. The law enforcement officers asked him “what he was doing” near the fence at the BEC headquarters and told him to stop raising his voice.
