Another 2.5 hectares of new park, with a length of 580 meters, were put into use on Sunday, in sector 6. It is the second phase of Liniei Park, the entire investment being 15 million lei including VAT.

“Last year, on June 1, the first park of the Military District and the longest linear park in Europe received its first visitors. Then the first phase was inaugurated, 630 meters long and spread over 4.5 hectares. The entrance is from Str. Lujerului, between Plaza Mall and Cora Lujerului.

Today, less than a year later, the second phase is put into use, between Cotroceni Station and Doina Cornea Blvd. It has a length of 580 meters and an area of 3.5 hectares, of which one hectare is occupied by an urban forest.

Also in the last year, the first phase of the park was widened and expanded by half a hectare, where a space dedicated to quadrupeds was set up”, says a press release from the District 6 City Hall.

The cited source also says that in this way, in total, over 8 hectares of new park is reached in the middle of the city, instead of a space full of garbage, mud and construction waste.

“Since the summer of last year and until now, we have added another four hectares of green space and relaxation spaces on the place where for 30 years it was a garbage dump. There are many attractions here, new playgrounds and original relaxation spaces, a bike path of about 1.5 km, including an urban forest.

In Phase 2 alone we planted 1,500 trees. Thus, Liniei Park has reached over 8 hectares and is the largest park opened after the Revolution in Bucharest”, declared the mayor Ciprian Ciucu.

Also in the new piece of the park there is a square, a drydeck fountain, an area where 30 flags fly (27 of the EU states, plus a flag of the Republic of Moldova, the EU and the City Hall of Sector 6). Another novelty here is that the railway line was no longer covered with decking, but with marl, which is equally friendly to the environment.
