Spring brought well-paid job opportunities that remain unfilled due to the reluctance of young people in Romania.

In Romania, there are well-paid jobs that remain unfilled. For example, in the agricultural sector, Romanian farmers offer attractive wages for specialized agricultural work, but face an acute labor shortage.

Tractor drivers are among the most sought-after workers, with salaries that can reach up to 15,000 lei (approximately 3,000 euros) per month, notes Termene.ro.

Unfortunately, many Romanians qualified in this job went abroad for many years, and now they hesitate to return. Moreover, according to the farmers, today’s young people dream of luxury cars and villas, and no longer consider hard work or engaging in the agricultural sector.

“It’s a shame for them to work like that, it’s a shame to be tractor drivers. And somehow some people think that if they work as tractor drivers, they’ll be exploited. No, not at all. With me, if you’re a tractor driver and not only that, you have meal breaks, cigarette breaks and coffee, but don’t abuse it. Nobody says don’t light a cigarette, but work and be serious,” says Dan Câmpean, a farmer, who emphasized that those who work overtime end up earning more, according to the truth. ro.

In Romania, 58 high schools with an agricultural profile are registered. The most, three each, are in Botoșani, Buzău, Iași and Teleorman counties. Very few students of agricultural high schools want a future in the field. Most of them just want to have 12 classes, regardless of the profile.

“The lowest salary is 4,000 lei, for employees who work on less expensive machines. There are some employees who really reach 12,000 – 14,000 lei”, says Dimitrie Musca, farm manager of the Curtici Agroindustrial Complex in Arad.
