Today, April 27, an aerial intervention is being carried out to combat mosquito larvae, especially in areas with stagnant water, such as lakes, ponds and marshy areas in Ilfov County. The action is carried out as part of the “Ilfovul without mosquitoes” campaign.
The Ilfov County Council, through the Ilfov Environmental Disinsection and Greening Service, continues the “Ilfov without mosquitoes” campaign with the aim of reducing the harmful effect of mosquitoes on the health of the population.
“This action is a continuation of the ground intervention carried out between April 1-9, and is important for maintaining a healthy and safe environment for our community,” informs the County Council in a post on Facebook.
The purpose of the action is to prevent the harmful action of mosquitoes on the human population and animals. The substance used in this process is the biolarvicide Vectobac WG, which is safe for terrestrial and aquatic flora and fauna.
The biological insecticide used is in the dose of 0.6 kg/ha. It is not toxic for bees, being dispersed on the water surface. It doesn’t matter if there is precipitation or not, he ends up in the water anyway.
Year after year, through the funds allocated by the Ilfov County Council, the Ilfov County Disinsection and Environmental Greening Service supports the local councils, acting both by land and air, throughout the county, against insects that create discomfort, with the aim of ensuring conditions of environment that contributes to increasing the quality of life, health and public hygiene, by reducing or eliminating vectors that generate or transmit diseases.
According to the “Mosquito-free Ilfov” protocol, the Ilfov County Council allocates the necessary funds, the Ilfov County Disinsection and Environmental Greening Service carries out the disinsection actions, and the administrative-territorial units in the county each appoint a delegate responsible for ensuring that they are carried out in good conditions, with informing citizens, at the local level.
Actions to combat mosquitoes and other insects that cause discomfort are part of the standard procedures for increasing the quality of life in the European Union.
